Principles of Biomedical Science
Principles of Biomedical Science is a class created by Project Lead the Way, and organization that creates, and trains teachers to teach the project-based curriculum. The entire class is based around the mysterious death of a woman named Anna Garcia. Throughout the class, students learn about and practice many techniques used by people in the fields of biomedical science. The class starts with investigating a crime scene and gathering evidence. They analyze their findings and develop theories as to what happened to her. As the class moves forward, they start to look into her medical history and use new clues to try and solve the case. By the end of the class, the students will have gathered all the evidence and medical history they need and will be able to piece together the manner in which Anna Garcia died.
Agriculture Engine and Power Train Class
The Agriculture Engine and PowerTrain class has been learning about hydraulics and pneumatics in class. The final task of the unit is to construct a hydraulic or pneumatic arm that would raise a pop can and move it three inches. Students learn about the process of designing systems that would work together to move a specific object. Also within this class students learn about the engine components of gasoline engines and diesel engines. Each student works to complete a tear down, troubleshooting diagnose and rebuilds the engine during this unit. Also, students learn about the bio-fuel industry and alternative fuels with in this class.
