Be Winter Weather Aware for School Delays and Closures!
How to Receive Inclement Weather Notifications & Know the Criteria
With inclement weather now a possibility, we wanted to share a few reminders on how you can receive or find this information. CLICK HERE for CRITERIA used in determining closings, delays, and early dismissal.
As a reminder, you may receive some info automatically while other sources you need to proactively subscribe to or look up:
1) District-wide emails: Parents/guardians listed as contacts in JMC will automatically receive a SchoolMessenger email from “Info@wmcsd.org” and a text to up to 3 phone numbers as listed in JMC (unless you have opted out). Make sure to check your JMC account to update phone numbers and emails you wish to receive notifications at! Automated phone calls will also be used in the case of short notice or emergency situations.
2) West Marshall Trojans CSD Facebook Page: Info posted nearly immediately after a decision is made. Be sure to like/follow our page!
3) West Marshall CSD Twitter: Info posted nearly immediately after a decision is made. Be sure to like/follow our feed!
4) SMS Text Message: Parents/guardians with listed cell phone numbers in JMC can OPT IN to receive an SMS text message. To sign up, text a “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number 67587.
5) Local Media Outlets: Through KCCI, WHO13, Local5 (WeAreIowa), and KIX 101.1, you can sign up to receive a notification through their mobile app or website or check their online listings.
Visit our WMCSD website for a direct link to the “Winter Weather Information” document that includes additional info on our protocol.
Please be sure to forward or share this information with anyone who may be providing care for your student(s) and would need to find out this information quickly and who are not listed in JMC. It’s also imperative to ensure that your contact information is up to date in JMC so you do not miss out on these messages!
Thank you for your partnership as we work to keep everyone informed about emergency weather-related delays and closures!
