2026-27 Open Enrollment Deadline is March 1, 2026
PROSPECTIVE OPEN ENROLLMENT STUDENTS/FAMILIES: PLEASE REVIEW FOR KEY DETAILS AND UPCOMING DEADLINES
Open Enrollment is the process by which a parent or guardian residing in an Iowa district may enroll their child(ren) into another Iowa school district under the terms and conditions of Iowa Code 282.18 and Iowa Administrative Code 281-17 as amended by Senate File 2435, Division VIII. Senate File 2435, Division VIII reinstated the open enrollment deadlines for all applicants and took effect July 1, 2024.
West Marshall Community School District has a process in place to help prospective open enrollment students and their parents/guardians. If you are interested in open enrolling into the district or have questions about the process, you can email Buffi Honeck our District Office at bhoneck@wmcsd.org.
PLEASE NOTE FOR CURRENTLY OPEN-ENROLLED FAMILIES:
**If you have a student who is currently open enrolled with the required paperwork already on file, you do NOT need to complete the application again unless your district of residency has changed.
**If you have a student who is currently open enrolled and you have since moved INTO THE DISTRICT, you need to notify your resident school district to rescind your open enrollment and notify the District Office so we can get your address and student records updated with residency status.

UPCOMING DEADLINES:
MARCH 1, 2026: 2026-27 Open Enrollment Application deadline for students in grades 1-12 to open enroll for the upcoming school year.
MARCH 2, 2026 and after: 2026-27 Open Enrollment Applications for students grades 1-12 will be denied unless the parent or guardian is able to demonstrate good cause or meet other outlined criteria.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2026: Application deadline for new Kindergarten students to open enroll for the upcoming school year.
